MGCO is headed by a Managing Partner (MP) who reports to the Management Committee (MC) made up of all the partners. The firm focuses its operations in two broad areas of practice:
- Corporate and Commercial Law
- Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution(ADR) Services
Operations are structured under four departments which are:
- Corporate & Commercial Law Practice
- Litigation and ADR Practice
- Nyeri Office
- Finance & Administration.
The firm has opted for a management style built around a series of management review meetings designed to review on a regular and periodical basis the performance of each department and of the firm generally. Firm policy is driven by several standing Committees which invite views from the appropriate members of staff. These are:
- Business/Legal Practice Committee
- Finance & Budget Committee
- Administration & Staff Welfare Committee
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Committee
- All Partners Committee (APC)
- Management Committee.
The constitution of the membership for each committee has taken care of inclusiveness and representation.
The APC operates as a consultative forum that has responsibility for managing the affairs of the organization and its decisions are ratified by the Management Committee. The Management Committee receives reports from the other committees and the various departments. The Management Committee is the policy making body of the firm and have the responsibility for implementing the firm's strategic plan.
The committees working together with department (and section) heads usually prepare Quarterly Performance Reports detailing their activities during each quarter, the achievements made, the difficulties encountered and the expectations for the next quarter. These reports are presented by the committee chairs to the Management Committee at its quarterly meetings.
